Passive voltage probe
Passive voltage probes are supplied as standard with most oscilloscopes and represent a cost-effective multi-purpose probe solution. In general, the performance of these probes is lower than that of an active voltage probe. However, they have the robustness and wide dynamic range that make them ideal for visualising signals in a variety of applications. With its new class of passive probes, Tektronix has revolutionised performance in the passive probe category.
The new class of Tektronix passive probes are characterised by the following features:
- Best bandwidth in the industry of up to 1 GHz
- Minimised load effect of the probe due to the industry's best input capacitance of an astonishingly low 3.9 pF
- Minimised power losses when using long earthing conductors thanks to the best input capacitance in the industry
- Automated probe compensation, which means that a compensation screwdriver is no longer required

The P2221 is a compact, passive probe with selectable 1x/10x attenuation (switch adjustable) designed for use with selected Tektronix oscilloscopes such as the MSO2000 and DPO2000 series.
